Bike Service
I offer three levels of bike service and can of course just attend to the work that you want done, like fitting accessories or making upgrades. Choose the best service for yourself from the list below. Prices include labour, consumables and parts where stated. Additional parts will be charged as required.
I have been trained and my work assessed to the standard recognised by the Association of Cycle Traders.
Safety check / Tune-up – £30
When you need to ensure that things are working as they should, or to keep gears and brakes smooth between a bigger bike service
- Brakes checked for wear, adjusted & aligned
- Gears checked for wear, adjusted & re-indexed
- Steering adjusted and frame visually checked
- All bolts and fastenings checked & tightened
- Tyres checked for wear and set to correct pressure
General Bike Service – £50
An annual service for bikes in regular use, or a good start where the bike has been stored for a while or not had recent maintenance
- All bolts and fastenings checked & tightened
- Tyres checked for wear and set to correct pressure
- Brake cables checked for wear or faults, lubricated & replaced as appropriate
- Brakes checked for wear, adjusted & aligned
- Hydraulic brakes fluid checked / replaced
- Gear system cleaned, checked for wear, lubricated & re-indexed
- Wheels and hubs checked for wear or damage. Hubs adjusted, wheels trued & spoke tension checked
- Steering checked for free correct operation, re-lubricated & adjusted as required
- Bottom bracket checked for play & lubricated / adjusted as required
- Frame visually checked
Executive service – £125
This is the top bike service for those who are enthusiastic about their bike and who need reliability and consistent performance for commuting or pleasure. Complete with a full valet, this keeps your bike running and looking ‘as new’.
- Fully stripped down, all bolts and fastenings checked & tightened
- Tyres checked for wear and set to the correct pressure
- New brake and gear cable inners and outers
- Brakes checked for wear, adjusted & aligned
- Hydraulic brakes bled & fluid checked / replaced
- Gear system dismantled, checked for wear, lubricated & re-indexed
- Hubs serviced. Wheels trued in jig and spoke tension checked
- Steering bearings serviced
- Bottom bracket serviced / checked
- Frame visually checked
- All reassembled and valeted to a high finish
Additional work
Between services you might need a repair made or accessories fitted. The Hourly workshop rate is £30.00.
To get the best from your bike you need a regular bike service and an accurate bike fitting.
Family Cycling
Even though there are just as many parts on a children’s bike and they get hard use, I am happy to discuss offering a group arrangement to look after all of your bikes and help with adjustments as young bodies grow.
